To provide this exposure APW International has set up a consolidation and
merchandising infrastructure whereby the market development and marketing servicing
costs for more than 50 small to medium sized winemakers are pooled in one house (in a
manner similar to the negociants of France).
In addition, APW International buys wines in bulk to produce consistent styles which we
know suit the requirements of particular markets. These can be made available under our
own proprietary labels or under a packaging chosen by, or designed especially for, our
clients.
The success of these proprietary and own label wines led us to perform two trial
shipments of bulk wine to Ireland in late 2004. From this we have been able to launch our
own labels for Europe and are now selling to three separate distributors in the United
Kingdom as well as a network of agents in The Republic of Ireland and in Canada.
The launch of the Australian Legend label through this arrangement has meant our distributors now have access to affordable everyday drinking styles of the Australian classic grapes Shiraz and Chardonnay.
