Plum Hill Vineyard and Winery

In early 2005 it was decided to establish a winery at Plum Hill Vineyard

The 2003 vintage wines, made elsewhere, proved to be of an excellent standard, the Pinot Noir and Cabernet gaining Bronze at the Southern Victorian Wine Show in 2004

The 2004 vintage wine was crushed elsewhere and transferred to the newly established Plum Hill Winery. It was finished and bottled - entering the market soon after Max Allen reviewed it in the Weeken Australian Magazine, 1 - 2 October. A copy of this can be seen on the articles page.

The 2004 wines were entered in the Yarra Valley Wine Show in October 2005. The Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Merlot were all awarded Bronze.

All the wines are distributed across the Yarra Valley and gradually further afield in independent Cellars and Restaurants. By appointment, (03) 9375 0985, wines are available at the Winery

Plum Hill Vineyard was developed in 1998 on 18 acres which is part of the 90 acre cattle breeding property established in 1969 which was reduced to 30 acres prior to planting vines.

On this north facing slope, situated near Mount Mary, Bianchet and Yarra Edge vineyard wineries, are 4 acres of Merlot, 7 acres of Pinot Noir and 3.5 acres each of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a large dam and drip irrigation if needed over a dry period.

Minimum chemical and pesticide sprays are used on the vines which have not had diseases or pests.

Our new winemaker, Rachel Dutton joined the Plum Hill team in September.
