In a packed field of great Australian Rieslings the 2010 creation of Colin Forbes has taken on all comers to win the top spot and only Trophy across all Riesling Classes This follows huge accolades for this and many other Forbes Rieslings at these awards and other wine shows as per the following press release.
Colin’s 2018 Eden Valley Riesling also secured a silver medal in the same show , and this after only one month in the bottle : how good is it going to be?
Forbes and Forbes
“The mouse that roared”
Small and media averse the Forbes and Forbes label is certainly a quiet achiever and their winemaker an unheralded over achiever.
This tiny operation belies its almost unknown status outside the Eden Valley with superb young and gorgeous aged Rieslings alongside elegant Cabernet Blends.
One basic test is the consistent achievement of gold medal status at major wine shows and from commentators like James Halliday.
Such accolades dictate that Colin Forbes is a simply a stellar wine maker.
That’s why in the 2018 edition James Halliday declared the label a five star winery, almost certainly the smallest Australian producer to achieve this status.
But there is more evidence still . Check out this pedigree of the few vintages we still have access to:
