History
After working fifteen vintages in the Clare Valley and two years full time study in Wine Marketing at Roseworthy Agricultural College the time was right to make a serious commitment to the wine industry. We had been involved in a mixed farming enterprise just west of Clare but found high interest and low commodity prices the recipe for total despair. Thanks to the support and strong influence of close friends within the wine industry, we sold our farming property, bought 45ha, planted vines, renovated an 80 year old stone cottage and opened cellar door sales. Eighteen months later we began a small restaurant, which has become very popular for lunches Thursday through Sunday with special functions by appointment.
We source premium quality Clare Valley fruit contracted growers and process at two local wineries under directions from us. Our focus being to produce affordable wines of premium high quality that reflect not only our character but also that of the unique Clare Valley.
Our label began with 500 cases of 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon released in 1992. Production has now grown to 5,500 cases over varietals with volumes increasing considerably in the near future due to a 50-acre vineyard development being planted eighteen months ago. The varieties planted were Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Malbec and Riesling which will not only enable us to increase our already existing range but give us the opportunity to introduce some new lines as well as give us some wonderful blending options.
Our wines have won nearly 100 medals at Australian and International Wine Shows in the decade we have been in operation. This includes 3 trophies, 10 gold and 20 silver medals, an enviable record for any producer of our size.
