TASTING NOTES
This Shiraz has spent 24 months is seasoned American oak to allow the wine to mature its generous concentration of flavours.
The fruit and tannins have integrated to produce spices and pepper typical of Shiraz and the subtle oak giving savoury characters.
With all these factors the wine is soft, full and broad, giving a soft fleshy mouthful typical of McLaren Vale Shiraz.
HISTORY
This is only our third estate release; the fruit was produced from our Ryan Block Vineyard, situated on Colville Road, Willunga. The soils here are deep red clay with some clay shale layers. With a firm commitment to sustainable agriculture we have embraced mostly organic inputs to give a balanced soil for a balanced wine, hence giving great fruit characteristics.
The Shiraz grapes were processed at Boar's Rock, with the wine being wood enhanced in second use American Oak hogsheads (fitted with new heads) for 24 months. The wine was bottled in August 2006 and is showing continuing bottle development with a balanced oak integration.
